Brandywine Sweeps Hazleton In Regular-Season Finale

HAZLETON, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine volleyball team concluded the regular season by sweeping Penn State Hazleton 3-0 (25-8, 25-4, 26-24) on the road Thursday night.

Suzie Alvarenga (Fullerton, Calif./Notre Dame Academy) produced 20 digs to lead the team defensively and set down eight service aces on the offensive end. Madison Swenson (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) added six digs, while Sydney Stevens (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) produced four, Mackenzie Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) tallied three and Jordan Thompson (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) totaled two solo blocks. 

Swenson handed out 25 assists and matched Stevens with two aces. Thompson registered three aces and joined Kelly and Dana Palmer (New London, Pa./Avon Grove) with five kills each. Anna Ramirez (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) led the Lions with six kills, while Katherine Snyder (Wilmington, Del./Dickinson) added four kills. 

Brandywine (13-6, 11-1 PSUAC) will host a PSUAC Tournament quarterfinal match next Thursday night at 7:00 pm against an opponent still to be determined.
