Jezyk Claims Two Weekly Awards

MEDIA, Pa. -- Freshman Laura Jezyk (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) was selected as the Penn State University Athletic Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Setter of the Week on Tuesday after leading Penn State Brandywine to four conference victories last week.

Jezyk, who earned her second USCAA award of the season, averaged more than nine assists per set last week against conference competition. She also tallied 27 digs and 18 aces during five matches.

Jezyk recorded 30-plus assists three times last week, including a career-high 35 assists against Penn State Hazleton, when she also set a career best with 13 digs. In two matches against Penn State Scranton, she totaled 13 aces.

Through 12 matches, Jezyk ranks second in the PSUAC with 292 assists, averaging nearly 7.5 per set. She is one off the team lead in aces with 35 and stands third on the team with 90 digs.

Brandywine (7-5, 6-2 PSUAC), winner of five of its last six matches, hosts Penn State York Wednesday night at 7:00 PM.
