Brandywine Records Senior Night Sweep Of Wilkes-Barre

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-5, 25-13) sweep of Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Monday night.

Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro), the team's lone senior, produced a team-high eight kills and added four digs.

Anna Ramirez (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) matched Floyd with eight kills, while Lexie Berry (Brookhaven, Pa./Daegu (South Korea)) tallied five kills and four blocks. Laura Jezyk (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) handed out 23 assists and collected seven digs, while Suzie Alvarenga (Fullerton, Calif./Notre Dame Academy) posted a match-high 17 digs.

Ramirez and Sydney Stevens (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) both recorded four aces and Leilu Campbell (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) added three aces.

Brandywine amassed seven of the night's first 10 points and then pulled away with the first set, using an 11-0 run, aided by kills from Ramirez and Berry and a pair of aces from Campbell.

Another long run, this one featuring nine-straight Brandywine points, helped the Lions build a 21-4 edge during the second set. Ramirez set down three aces, while Berry and Savannah Bauer (San Jose, Calif./Santa Teresa) both tallied two kills during the surge. After a Wilkes-Barre point, two Wilkes-Barre errors, plus an Alvarenga ace and kill from Floyd, gave the second set to Brandywine.

The visitors kept the third set close, climbing within 18-12 following three consecutive points, but Brandywine answered with seven of the final eight points, including kills from Floyd and Ramirez, to post its second sweep of Wilkes-Barre this season.

Brandywine (11-9, 8-3 PSUAC) closes out the regular season Thursday night against Penn State Hazleton at 7:00 PM.
