Brandywine Falls In PSUAC Semifinals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- No. 2 Penn State Brandywine saw its season come to a close following a 3-0 Penn State University Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament semifinal loss to top-seeded Penn State Mont Alto at Rec Hall on Monday night.

Mont Alto pulled away late in the opening set to win it 25-17 before claiming the final two frames by scores of 25-16 and 25-11.

Suzie Alvarenga (Fullerton, Calif./Notre Dame Academy) added to her single-season dig record with 23, giving her 421 digs on the season.

Lexie Berry (Brookhaven, Pa./Daegu (South Korea)) added four blocks, while Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and Katie Snyder (Wilmington, Del./Dickinson) both tallied two. Floyd also notched five kills and four digs.

Laura Jezyk (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) handed out 16 assists, finishing the year with a PSUAC East Division-leading 568 helpers, while Anna Ramirez (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) produced a team-best eight kills.

Brandywine finished its first year under head coach Emily Battista with a record of 13-10 and advanced to the PSUAC Tournament semifinal round for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons.
