Alvarenga Earns Weekly Award From PSUAC

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine junior libero Suzie Alvarenga (Fullerton, Calif./Notre Dame Academy) was selected as the Penn State University Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week on Tuesday.

Alvarenga totaled 30 digs during the Lions' season-opening match against Immaculata University last Thursday. The game marked the fifth 30-dig match of her career.

Alvarenga was the conference leader in digs per set last season, averaging 5.69. She was fourth in total digs with 421 and reached double figures in digs 21 times in 23 matches.

With 708 digs during 43 career matches, Alvarenga is on pace to become the second player in Brandywine volleyball history to reach 1,000 digs. A two-time all-PSUAC honoree, Alvarenga has also posted 71 assists, 63 aces and 12 kills during her career.

Brandywine (0-1) opens conference play Tuesday night when the Lions host Penn State Hazleton at 7:00 PM.
