Brandywine Drops Fall Tennis Openers

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis teams both suffered 9-0 defeats at DeSales University on Saturday afternoon during the squads' first matches of the fall.

On the women's side, Katie Corey (Lansdowne, Pa./Agora Cyber Charter) and Michelle Pang (Beijing, China/ISS International) earned one point at No. 1 doubles. Both also recorded a point during their respective singles matches, but suffered straight-set defeats.

Vidya Nayak (Exton, Pa./West Chester East) was the third Lion competing and also was knocked off, dropping her No. 3 singles bout to Alex Rodier 6-0, 6-1.

For the men, the duo of Wenceslao Lara (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) and Aryaman Bhardwaj (Lilburn, Ga./Brookwood) dropped an 8-1 decision at No. 1 doubles.

Danny Lynn knocked off Lara 6-3, 6-2 during their No. 1 singles match, while Bhardwaj fell 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

Brandywine will compete in Maryland next weekend at the Ocean City Invitational.
