Brandywine Cruises In 87-68 Victory At Scranton

DUNMORE, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine maintained its hold on third place in the Penn State University Athletic Conference East Division by winning 87-68 at Penn State Scranton on Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine, which won its eighth PSUAC game in its last nine outings, used a 13-2 run midway through the opening half to establish a 25-16 lead.

The Lions advantage reached double figures for the first time when Devon Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) knocked down a three-pointer at the 6:26 mark and expanded to 15 points three minutes later as Jordan Graves (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) buried a triple.

Scranton cut its deficit to 10 points before Graves sank another three-pointer just before the horn to send Brandywine into the break with a 42-29 edge.

Three baskets from Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth), a jumper by Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) and a pair of triples from Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) pushed the Lions' lead to 16 points six minutes into the second half.

Five minutes later, Jamar Wright (Wilmington, Del./Conrad School of Science) completed a three-point play that swelled the margin to 20 points for the first time. The hosts cut Brandywine's lead to 13 with 4:28 to go, but seven points from Barrouk and layups by Dunson and Hockenbrock during the next two minutes put the game away for the Lions.

Brandywine, which shot 49 percent from the field and knocked down nine three-pointers, received a 32-point, 8-rebound effort from Barrouk. He made 11-of-17 field goal attempts and buried five triples.

Hockenbrock shot 8-for-12 from the floor and added 17 points along with six steals, while Graves pitched in 10 points. Wright knocked down 5-of-6 free throw attempts and finished with nine points, while Dunson contributed eight points, five assists and four rebounds.

Brandywine (10-15, 8-6 PSUAC) opens a three-game home stand Tuesday against Penn State Hazleton at 8:00 PM.
