Cross Country Opens 2015 Season Tuesday At Bryn Mawr Invitational

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine's 2015 cross country season gets underway Tuesday evening when the teams compete in the Bryn Mawr Invitational at Rose Tree Park.

Under the direction of Head Coach Cory Smith, both the Lions' men's and women's teams placed second at last year's PSUAC Championships and will once again look to vie for the league title.

Alex Rivera-Santiago and Mario Miceli return for the men's squad. Rivera-Santiago, a senior, represented Brandywine at last year's USCAA Championship in Syracuse, N.Y. and will look to make a return trip to nationals, which move to Lakeland, Fla., this November.

For the first time in program history, the Brandywine women's squad competed as a team at the national championship meet last year. Returning from that team are sophomores Jessica Powers and Annie Mueller and senior Jessica Maginnis. Mueller earned all-conference accolades after finishing 10th at last season PSUAC Championship, while Powers set a school record 6K time at Lehigh University's Paul Short Invitational.

Tuesday night's men's race gets is slated to begin at 5:30 pm, while the women's race starts at 6:30 pm.
