Brandywine Places 68 Student-Athletes On PSUAC Spring All-Academic Team
MEDIA, Pa. – A total of 68 Penn State Brandywine student-athletes from its eight winter and spring teams received Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Academic Team laurels as spring term grades were finalized recently.
To earn a place on the PSUAC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must amass a minimum GPA of 3.0 during their semester of competition or own a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Brandywine's 68 honorees represented greater than 77 percent of the 88 total student-athletes who competed on a winter or spring team during the 2019-20 academic year.
Leading the way was the Brandywine baseball team, which saw 24 of its 30 members selected to the PSUAC All-Academic Team.
Fourteen members of the softball team were recognized, while 10 student-athletes on the women's basketball team claimed honors. Seven members of both the tennis and men's basketball teams earned accolades and six track & field student-athletes were honored.
Among the 68 student-athletes to receive recognition, 12 recorded a 4.0 GPA during the semester and 37 posted a GPA above 3.50 to also earn Dean's List honors.
Overall during the 2019-20 academic year, 113 Brandywine student-athletes claimed PSUAC All-Academic Team selections. After compiling a 3.07 GPA during the fall term, Brandywine student-athletes combined for a 3.36 GPA this spring. The department's cumulative grade-point average for the year was 3.21.
All 16 teams recorded a GPA greater than 3.0 during the spring, led by the women's cross country and track & field teams at 3.69, while 15 teams had a cumulative GPA above 3.1 during the entire year, paced by men's tennis (3.49).
