Six Lions Earn Academic All-District Honors

MEDIA, Pa. -- Six Penn State Brandywine student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams that were announced on Tuesday.

Brandywine's USCAA National Championship-winning softball team had two players honored: Meghan Ferry (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) and Karly Rees (Oxford, Pa./Oxford). Two-sport athlete Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and women's soccer's Caitlin Kaiser (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) also earned awards, along with Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) from the men's basketball team and Kyle Reuter (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) from the Brandywine men's soccer team.

To be nominated for an Academic All-District award, student-athletes must be a starter for their team, be at least a sophomore academically and own a minimum GPA of 3.50 or greater. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot with all-Americans being announced in June.

Barrouk graduated in May with a 3.64 GPA as a business major. He concluded his five-year playing career as the Brandywine men's basketball program's second-leading scorer all-time with 1,749 points. As a senior, Barrouk was named USCAA National Player of the Year and PSUAC Player of the Year after averaging 18.9 points and 11.1 rebounds in 27 games.

Ferry was named most valuable player of the USCAA World Series after helping Brandywine win its first national title by driving in nine runs over four games. Entering her senior season, Ferry owns 101 hits, 21 home runs, 84 RBI and 127 runs scored during her 104-game career. She is a psychology major with a 3.58 GPA.

Floyd starred for the Lions' volleyball and women's basketball team, earning first team all-conference accolades in both sports in 2022-23. She is also a USCAA First Team All-American women's basketball player, ranking fourth all-time in scoring with 1,302 points. A human development and family studies major, Floyd has earned a 3.80 GPA.

Kaiser started all 15 matches on defense for the Brandywine women's soccer team last fall. As a biology major, Kaiser has earned a 3.58 GPA. An honorable mention all-conference performer, Kaiser also received USCAA National Academic Team and PSUAC All-Academic Team awards.

A business major, Rees has amassed a 3.99 GPA, the highest of any current Brandywine student-athlete. On the field this spring, Rees earned Second Team All-PSUAC honors for the second-straight season after batting .489 in 33 games. She owns 89 hits and 51 RBI through two seasons at Brandywine.

Reuter was an all-American defender for the Brandywine men's soccer team last fall, helping the Lions with their sixth-straight PSUAC title. He played in 20 matches, finishing third on the team with eight assists. Reuter is a business major with a 3.55 GPA.
