Brandywine drops double header to Briarcliffe College to start ’13 season

Brandywine scored three runs on four hits in the first of two games on Saturday but failed to earn a victory, losing by one run in walk off fashion, 3-4.  Mario Dioguardi started on a good foot this season, scoring two hits on two at bats and a run scored.   Both Matt DeBarberie and Gabe Encarnacion tallied a hit as well.  Matthew Gallo pitched one and two thirds innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs.  Joe Samohod pitched the last four and two thirds innings, allowing seven hits and one earned run.

The second match between these teams was not as close of an outcome with Briarcliffe breaking out for three runs in the second inning and holding on to a commanding 6-2 victory.  Gabe Encarnacion had three hits on four at bats in the game, while scoring one of Brandywine's two runs.  Tom Osenbach pitched one and one third innings, allowing five hits and striking out two batters.  Brian Pennock entered the game in the second inning, allowing six earned runs on eleven hits in four and one third innings.
