Brandywine Finishes Second In PSUAC Championship; Seventh In USCAA

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine golf team concluded its spring season Tuesday morning at the Penn State University Athletic Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championships at Penn State's Blue Course. The Lions placed second in the PSUAC, while earning a seventh-place finish nationally.

The Lions five-player squad posted a two-day total of 722 after equaling Monday's count with a second-round score of 361. SUNY Delhi claimed the USCAA title with 599 strokes, while Penn State Lehigh Valley (672) was the conference team champion.

Individually, Colin Shane (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) led Brandywine with a two-day score of 174 after carding 87 strokes during both rounds. Patrick Farrell (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) also equaled his first round score by carding a second-round 88 to place two strokes behind Shane.Colin Shane

Zachary Karlton (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) coupled a second round 93 with his opening round of 89 for a two-day count of 182, while Alex Barone (Glenolden, Pa./Concord) posted a score of 190 (97-93). Margaret Reynolds (West Chester, Pa./Westtown School) recorded 233 strokes (118-115).

Following the conclusion of the final round, Reynolds and Shane were honored on the USCAA National Academic Team. The National Academic Team rewards student-athletes who have completed at least four semesters at their institution and own a GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Brandon Walker of Mississippi University for Women shot an even-par score of 144 to win the individual USCAA title, while Penn State Hazleton's Jeremy Harper (80-78-158) won PSUAC Invitational medalist honors.
