Barone Receives USCAA Golfer Of The Week Award

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's Alex Barone (Glenolden, Pa./Concord) was named United States Collegiate Athletic Association Golfer of the Week on Tuesday.

Barone shot a round of 82 on Thursday at the Penn State Mont Alto Invitational, placing third among the 33 competitors. His team-low round helped Brandywine post a team score of 368 to place third in the field of six teams.

Barone owns a pair of top-15 finishes this season, having placed 12th at the season-opening PSUAC Invitational earlier this month. He shot a career-best round of 81 on Penn State's White Course.

The first Brandywine golfer to earn a weekly award from the USCAA since the team returned to varsity status in 2017, Barone also posted one top-10 finish during the spring season when he carded a round of 89 at the Penn State Hazleton Invitational.

Brandywine returns to State College Monday for the second PSUAC Invitational of the fall. Teams will be competing on Penn State's Blue Course beginning at 10:00 am.
