Brandywine Ties For Third At First-Ever Home Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. -- Hosting a golf invitational for the first time in the team's brief history, Penn State Brandywine finished in a tie for third place Thursday at Springfield Country Club.

Pacing the Lions was Alex Barone (Glenolden, Pa./Concord), who earned a fourth-place finish by carding a round of 80. Patrick Farrell (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) finished in a three-way tie for sixth in the 31-player field by recording 84 strokes.

Margaret Reynolds (West Chester, Pa./Westtown School) tallied a round of 96, while Payten Bussmann (Gray Eagle, Minn./Sauk Centre) posted an 18-hole count of 100.

As a team, Brandywine posted a four-player score of 360, matching Penn State Lehigh Valley for third place. Penn State Hazleton won the team title by recording a total score of 333.

Individually, Ian Masenheimer (73) of Lehigh Valley edged Penn State Hazleton's Jeremy Harper (74) for medalist honors.

Brandywine wraps up the regular season Monday with the Penn State Hazleton Invitational at Valley Country Club beginning at 11:00 AM.
