Cavanaugh Leads Brandywine In Season Debut
NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – Matt Cavanaugh (Upper Darby, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) matched his career-low round to lead the Penn State Brandywine men's golf team's season debut during the Albright Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon.
Cavanaugh shot a round of 78 for the fourth time during his career. He was one-over-par through the front nine after carding one birdie and seven pars before finishing his day +6 at Olde Homestead Golf Club. Cavanaugh finished tied for 14th in the field of 80 golfers.
Eric Angle (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) totaled 86 strokes and produced a pair of birdies, while Ty Coccia (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) round of 93 was highlighted by a birdie on the par-four second hole. Joseph Koehler (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) rounded out the Lions by shooting 104.
As a team, Brandywine totaled 361 strokes. Albright bested the 16-team field by tallying 303 strokes, while three players tied for medalist honors by shooting rounds of one-over-par 73.
Brandywine will return to action on Monday, October 7 at the United East Conference Championship Preview, hosted by Wilson College, at Chambersburg Country Club.
