
Brandywine Competes At The Bear Invitational; Cavanaugh Matches Record-Low Round
LIMERICK, Pa. – Matt Cavanaugh (Upper Darby, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) tied the program-record low round to lead the Penn State Brandywine men's golf team at The Bear Invitational hosted by Ursinus College on Thursday.
Cavanaugh matched former teammate Zak Karlton (2023) and Pat Farrell (2021) by carding a career-low round of 75. He birdied both par-fives on the front nine to reach the turn at two-under-par and was three-under for the day after collecting a birdie on the par-five 13th before closing the afternoon with 75 strokes. He finished the day in a three-way tie for seventh place in the field of 82 golfers.
Brady Foytack (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) was one of seven golfers to fire a round of 83, tying for 33rd place, while Eric Angle (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) turned in a round of 89.
Ty Coccia (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) tallied a round of 92 and Joseph Koehler (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) finished the day with 110 strokes.
Thomas Hurley of Drew University took home individual medalist honors after shooting a one-over-par 73 on the Turtle Creek Golf Club course.
Brandywine will round out its fall slate on Monday, October 21 at the Scarlet Raptor Invitational hosted by Rutgers-Camden.
