2017 Penn State Brandywine graduate Emily Battista began her third season as head volleyball coach at her alma mater in 2024.
In two seasons at Brandywine, Battista has led the Lions to 25 victories and back-to-back postseason appearances. Individually, five Brandywine volleyball student-athletes have earned both all-conference and all-American honors. Laura Jezyk was also named conference setter of the year following the 2022 season.
Battista was a four-year member of the Lions’ volleyball team from 2012-16. A veteran of 96 matches as a defensive specialist, Battista helped Brandywine to four postseason appearances, including the team’s first-ever Penn State University Athletic Conference championship in 2015. Battista earned all-conference recognition following her senior season after finishing fourth in the conference in digs.
The four-time PSUAC All-Academic Team honoree graduated in 2017 with a degree in human development and family studies.
Battista returned to Brandywine following a five-year stint as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Immaculata University. While with the Might Macs, Battista assisted in all aspects of the program during her five years with the team.
Battista began her coaching career at Harcum College during the 2017-18 academic year. She also has coached in the club ranks with Sparks Volleyball.
