Men’s Soccer Champions Feature Four USCAA All-Americans

MEDIA, Pa. -- Four members of the national championship-winning Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team were named all-Americans by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association last week at the annual fall championships banquet. James Cellucci (Rosemont, Pa./Radnor) and Daniel Willie (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) were both first team selections, while Mohamed Camara (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) claimed second team accolades and Brandon Crochunis (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) earned honorable mention.

The highlight to Willie's season came Monday night when he scored the championship-clinching goal in overtime to send Brandywine to its first-ever national title with a 1-0 victory over Johnson & Wales (N.C.). He was named to the all-tournament team after scoring two goals in three matches overall during the tournament.

Also a first team all-conference selection, Willie was the third-leading scorer in USCAA Division II men's soccer with 24 goals and six assists for 54 total points. Willie netted at least one goal in 13 of his final 14 games, registering three hat tricks during that time, including a three-goal performance in the conference championship victory over Beaver on Oct. 31.

Willie scored the game-winning goal in six of Brandywine's 18 victories and appeared in 19 matches overall for the Lions during his sophomore season.

Cellucci, a three-year captain and four-year starting defender, played in all 21 of the team's games. He was the leader of the Brandywine defense that posted a 0.67 goals-against average, the third-lowest mark nationally. The Lions' defense produced 12 shutouts, while allowing opponents to average just five shots on goal per game.

Now a three-time USCAA All-American, Cellucci added four goals and tied Willie for sixth on the team with six assists during his final season at Brandywine. Cellucci started all 78 matches during his career, compiling nine goals and 10 assists for 28 points. 

Camara set career highs in goals and assists during his sophomore season, while playing in all 21 games, including 19 as a starter. He ranked second on the team and tied for seventh in the USCAA with 16 goals and added seven assists, tied for the seventh-highest total nationally.

Camara registered at least one point in 17-of-21 matches and netted goals in six-straight games Sept. 23-Oct. 7. He owns 28 goals and 11 assists in two seasons at Brandywine.

Crochunis topped the team and tied for fifth in the USCAA with 10 assists. He added 14 goals, recording a career-high 38 points in 21 matches.

A USCAA All-Tournament Team selection, Crochunis headed in the game-winning goal against Berkeley College (N.Y.) to give Brandywine its first-ever national tournament victory and help the Lions win Pool B to advance to the title game.

Crochunis completed his four-year career at Brandywine with 79 total points (29G, 21A).
