Brandywine Tennis Drops 6-3 Decision To Cairn

LANGHORNE, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine tennis team returned to the courts for the first time in nearly one month Wednesday night as the Lions were defeated 6-3 by Cairn University.

Brandywine claimed a doubles victory behind the duo of Tanuj Gaikwad (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Cameron Flanagan (Upper Chichester, Pa./Chichester). The pair teamed to win at the No. 1 spot by a count of 8-2.

Gaikwad was a double winner on Wednesday and is now 4-0 overall this season after claiming his No. 2 singles match. Gaikwad rolled in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3.

Nishanth Kopri (Chesterbrook, Pa./Conestoga) provided Brandywine with its third victory of the day, a triumph at No. 1 singles. He defeated the Highlanders' Brad Garges in straight sets by identical 6-2, 6-2 scores.

Brandywine and Cairn will face off again on Monday, this time at Brandywine, beginning at 3:00 pm.
