Men's Tennis Claims First Victory At Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's tennis team picked up its first victory of the spring on Tuesday afternoon at Rosemont College, edging the Ravens 5-4.

The Lions (1-1) took a 2-1 lead after doubles play as Duc Luong (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) and Phuc Nguyen Ho (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) posted a lopsided 8-1 victory in the top flight and Stevie DiSipio (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) and James Cellucci (Rosemont, Pa./Radnor) teamed to win a second-flight match 8-4.

Needing to split the six singles bouts to win the match, the Lions did just that, earning victories in the top three flights.

At No. 1, Nguyen Ho triumphed in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, while Luong swept his No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-0.

After dropping the first set 3-6, DiSipio rebounded to take the final two frames by scores of 6-1 and 10-2, giving Brandywine the 5-4 victory.

The Lions return to action Monday at Cabrini (3:30 pm).
