Biondi, Russo Sweep Weekly Conference Honors; Biondi Claims Second National Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine senior Miranda Biondi (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) earned the PSUAC Setter of the Week award for the fourth time and her second national setter of the week honor from the USCAA, while classmate Kim Russo (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) was selected as the PSUAC Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The duo of Biondi and Russo helped Brandywine win all three of its matches last week with each victory coming in three sets. The Lions have not dropped a set during their current eight-game winning streak.

Biondi averaged 8.75 assists per set and totaled 70 assists during the week, while also tallying 24 digs and seven aces.

Brandywine's all-time assist leader, Biondi is 77 from reaching 2,000 for her career. She also owns 311 career aces, the highest total of any active college volleyball player at any level of the NCAA, USCAA or NAIA.

Russo is also nearing a milestone as she stands 34 digs shy of becoming the first player from Brandywine to reach 1,000 in a career.

During the week, Russo posted 35 digs along with six aces. She ranks third in the PSUAC with 149 digs and is tied for 12th with 37 aces.

Brandywine (15-3, 12-0 PSUAC) hosts its annual Dig Pink Weekend beginning with matches against Penn State New Kensington and Penn State Fayette on Saturday afternoon.
