ASTON, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's softball season opener was washed out by rain Tuesday afternoon with Brandywine leading Swarthmore 9-1 in the bottom of the third inning. The doubleheader will not be rescheduled.

Meghan Ferry (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) had two first-inning, run-scoring singles during a six-run frame. Kaylee Mushinski (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) also drove in two runs, while Lexi Bussenger (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) singled, stole a base and scored twice.

Crystal Cassario (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) pitched all three innings, striking out two, while allowing one run on four hits to Swarthmore, which played in the NCAA Division III Tournament and reached a regional final in 2023.
