Brandywine Routs York In Home Finale

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine closed out the home portion of its schedule by rolling to an 85-47 victory over Penn State York in Penn State University Athletic Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine used the three ball to run away, knocking down 13 three-pointers. Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) buried five triples, while Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) was 3-for-3 from long range. Kaitlyn Johnson (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) and Cheyenne Rivas (Thorndale, Pa./Collegium Charter) both connected for two three-pointers.

The teams were all square at 18-18 after one quarter, but Brandywine pulled away in the second period. Allen and Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) both canned triples during the first 1:37 and Floyd added a pair of three balls as Brandywine opened the period with an 18-3 surge.

Brandywine extended the lead to 16 points on Jenaya Smith's (Cohoes, N.Y./Cohoes) layup at the 2:02 mark before York trimmed its deficit to 12 points at the break.

Brandywine put the game away late in the third period as the Lions closed the stanza with a 15-4 run over the final 4:04. Floyd sank a triple and a layup in succession, while Johnson buried two three-pointers. Rivas put an exclamation point on the quarter with a steal and a buzzer beater from half court as time expired, giving Brandywine a 62-37 lead.

Brandywine did not relent in the final quarter, outscoring York 23-8, to post the 38-point victory.

All nine Lions scored at least three points led by 21-point efforts from Allen and Floyd. Amelia Brooks (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) hauled in 13 rebounds, while Hope Coacher (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford) added 10 boards, along with seven points.
Johnson tallied eight points, four assists and four steals, while Diawara chipped in seven points and seven boards.

Brandywine (12-15, 8-9 PSUAC) begins the final week of the regular season Monday with a road trip to Penn State Schuylkill (6:00 PM).
