Weldemicael Earns USCAA National Academic Award

CHARLESTON, West Virginia -- For the second time this fall, Penn State Brandywine junior Manny Weldemicael (Philadelphia, Pa./Wyoming Park) has earned an award for his work in the classroom as he was named to the USCAA National All-Academic Team on Wednesday night at the association's annual award banquet.

Weldemicael, who owns a 3.73 grade-point average as a psychology major, was named to the national academic team for the second consecutive year. Last week, he became the first-ever Brandywine student-athlete selected to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

Also a two-time PSUAC All-Academic Team honoree, Weldemicael was joined by seven additional student-athletes from the conference on the all-academic team, which was comprised of 78 student-athletes overall.

The USCAA National All-Academic Team honors all student-athletes who have amassed a minimum GPA of 3.50 and reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution.

In 20 matches this fall, Weldemicael has collected 10 goals and five assists for 25 points, the third-highest total on the team.
