Brandywine Runs Away From Schuylkill Behind Big Second Half

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. -- The match was tied 2-2 at the half, but the Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team scored five goals over the final 40 minutes to run away with a 7-2 PSUAC men's soccer victory over Penn State Schuylkill on Thursday afternoon.

Brandywine improved to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the PSUAC, while Schuylkill fell to 2-6 overall and has now dropped two of its three league matches.

"The score was tied 2-2 in the 50th minute and I was really happy that our guys' mindset was to not panic. Once we settled in, the final 40 minutes was fantastic soccer to watch. Ronaldo Calle (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) really gave us a boost off the bench and all of the other guys fed off of that," said Head Coach Jesse Zafiratos.

Chris Riebman (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) continued his scoring streak with two goals and two assists. He has now tallied at least one point in four of the last five games.

Mohamed Camara (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) also posted two goals and dished out one assist, while Brandon Crochunis (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East), Josh Burton (West Chester, Pa./PA Cyber Charter) and Marcos Rojas (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) all scored one goal.

Calle dished out two assists and Nate Truett (St. Thomas, Pa./James Buchanan) handed out one assist.

Goalkeepers Will Scott-Norris (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) and Brandon Welden (Essington, Pa./Interboro) both made a pair of saves. Welden earned his fourth victory in net after playing the final 45 minutes.

Brandywine looks to win its fourth-straight match on Saturday at Penn State Mont Alto at 1:00 pm.
