Brandywine Men’s Soccer Continues Reign As PSUAC Champion

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 1 Penn State Brandywine continued its dominance of Penn State University Athletic Conference men's soccer on Wednesday night, winning the conference championship for the second-straight season and fourth time in five years following a 3-1 triumph over No. 3 Penn State Hazleton during the title match.

Brandywine, now 52-1-1 against the PSUAC during its five-year run, had not won a league crown since 1989 prior to the 2013 season. The Lions have won 22-straight matches with conference foes since the beginning of the 2016 campaign.

"I'm so proud of these guys. From day one, we had a goal set out to win the conference championship and to see it come to fruition just shows how hard these guys have worked all season," said PSUAC Coach of the Year Jesse Zafiratos.

Chris Riebman (Mt. Airy, Md./Mt. Airy) continued his standout freshman season by scoring a pair of goals. He also assisted on the Lions' third goal, netted by Mike Usher (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan).

Brandywine's defense held Hazleton in check all night, holding Hazleton without a shot on goal until the 85:35 mark. Net minder Will Scott-Norris (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) stopped one of the two shots he faced to earn his 10^th win of the season.

Brandywine's high-powered offense, however, was not held down as Riebman streaked down the sideline a ripped a shot into the top corner of the net just 5:10 into the match.

The Lions added a second goal 17 minutes later when Usher dove to head in Riebman's feed in front of the net after Riebman received a crossing pass from the corner.

Riebman added an insurance goal at the 71:03 mark, while a penalty kick converted by Moussa Diouf in the 86^th minute accounted for Hazleton's tally.

Brandywine will now make its fourth appearance at the USCAA Tournament after earning the conference's automatic bid. The Lions will compete in Virginia Beach against some of the top competition in the USCAA beginning on Nov. 9.
