MEDIA, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team suffered a 95-53 setback against Penn State Lehigh Valley as the Lions saw their four-game winning streak come to an end Saturday afternoon.
Brandywine trailed just 21-18 following a layup from Dairayonna Stewart-Harold (New Castle, Del./William Penn) at the 2:46 mark of the first quarter, but Lehigh Valley netted the final six points of the period to build a nine-point edge.
Katelyn Johnson (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) knocked down a pair of three-pointers and Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) added a bucket as Brandywine trimmed the deficit to 28-26 early in the second period. The visitors pushed their lead back to nine points by the midway period, but Floyd helped Brandywine hang around, scoring five-straight points to bring the count to 40-34 three minutes later.
Lehigh Valley used another late run to claim a 47-34 edge at intermission and pulled away during the second half. The visitors outscored Brandywine 27-12 in the third quarter to extend the margin to 28 and never looked back during final 10 minutes.
Floyd topped the Lions with a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Athena Brombacher (Vacaville, Calif./Will C. Wood) produced 12 points and nine boards. Johnson chipped in with 10 points and Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) added 11 rebounds.
Brandywine (11-10, 9-6 PSUAC) travels to Penn State Schuylkill Tuesday night for a 6:00 PM game.
