Rosemont’s Late Penalty Kick Sinks Brandywine

MEDIA, Pa. -- Rosemont scored the match's lone goal on a penalty kick late in the second half and topped the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team 1-0 during the Lions' final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday afternoon.

A foul inside the box was assessed on Brandywine with 62 seconds remaining in the game, providing the Ravens with a penalty kick. Rena Kotsedakis deposited the PK into the lower left corner of the net, giving Rosemont the lead.

Taylor Mims (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) made saves on the first 14 shots she faced, three shy of her career high. Mims had four saves to keep the game scoreless entering halftime and added 10 more stops during the final period.

In addition to Mims' 14 stops, Brandywine defenders blocked many of Rosemont's 28 shots from close range.

Brandywine's lone shot came off the foot of Raelyn Loper (West Chester, Pa./Rustin). Loper's long drive missed the cage wide right during the 86th minute.

Brandywine (1-4-1) will play its first-ever United East Conference game Saturday on its home field versus St. Elizabeth at 1:00 PM.
