Brandywine Women Finish 14th At USCAA Championship; Li Leads Lion Men
LAKELAND, Fla. – The Penn State Brandywine women's cross country team placed 14th at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Cross Country Championship on Friday morning during its second-straight appearance at the national meet. Freshman John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) led three Brandywine men competing at the championships.
Robyn Gannon's (Lansdowne, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) 63rd-place showing in a time of 29:27 was the top performance for the Lions during the 120-runner, 6K women's race.
Amanda Isenberger ran to 73rd in 30:54, while Jessica Powers (Morton, Pa./Ridley) took 85th (32:51) and Kristen Hall (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) crossed the line in 34:24, good for 95th place.
As a team, Brandywine, which earned the first conference championship in program history, compiled 333 points in the 15-team field.
Li's time of 32:04 was good for a 54th-place showing, capping off a standout freshman campaign as he claimed First Team All-PSUAC honors and led the team at all seven of its races.
Competing at the national championship for the second consecutive season, Alex Rivera-Santiago (New Castle, Del./Delcastle) improved by five places on last year's showing, running to 101st during the 8K race (35:53). Sam Houlette (Chester Springs, Pa./Salesianum) rounded out the Lions in 114th (40:07).
Berea College won both the men's and women's national championships. Emmanuell Kemmei of Berea and Aine McMorrow of SUNY Canton ran to individual medalist honors.
