MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis teams were defeated by identical 6-1 scores by Immaculata during the first home matches of the spring slate for both squads on Tuesday.
On the men's side, Jonathan Parsons (Wallingford, Pa.) was a straight-set winner at No. 3 singles. He defeated the Mighty Macs' Ryan Muckle by scores of 6-3, 6-2.
Parsons also teamed with Elias Danesh (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) to win at No. 2 doubles by a 6-2 count, but Immaculata won the doubles point by claiming the first and third flights.
Raj Mamidala (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) won six games during his No. 2 singles match before falling 6-3, 6-3, while Matteo Cousineau (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) claimed five games at No. 1 singles, dropping a 6-3, 6-2 decision.
Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles to lead the Brandywine women.
Sofia Guzman (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Berchmans) won four games at No. 4 singles, but fell 6-3, 6-1, whileAerynne Mays (Easton, Pa./Wilson) earned three games during her third-flight singles match in a 1-6, 2-6 decision.
Brandywine will be on the road Tuesday as the Lions visit Penn State Harrisburg for United East Conference matches beginning at 3:00 PM.
