Cross Country Announces 2018 Schedule

MEDIA, Pa. -- Head Coach Tim Sanville announced the 2018 men's and women's cross country schedules on Monday, a slate that features eight regular-season meets, including Penn State Brandywine's annual home invitational in mid-October.

The season begins for both teams on September 1 in Doylestown at the DelVal Invitational. The following Saturday, Brandywine will compete in Lebanon Valley's Dutchmen Invitational.

After running at Haverford College's Main Line Invitational on September 15, the Lions get their first taste of Penn State University Athletic Conference competition seven days later. Brandywine will take part in the Penn State Mont Alto Invitational, which annually serves as a preview of the conference championship races, also held at Norlo Park in Fayetteville, Pa.

Brandywine closes out September at one of the most prestigious races in the region, the Paul Short Invitational. Hosted by Lehigh University, the 2018 Paul Short Invitational will be the 45th-annual meet. Last year, over 400 teams and 4,000 runners competed in the event.

The Lions travel to Lancaster County for the second time during the season on October 6 to compete in the Millersville Invitational.

Brandywine then runs at home for the only time during the 2018 campaign when it hosts the Blue Apple Invitational on October 13. The team has hosted a meet every year since 2011 on one of the toughest college courses in the area.

After the regular season concludes on October 20 at Immaculata University, Brandywine will set its sights on the PSUAC Championships, hosted by Penn State Mont Alto. The Brandywine women's team won its lone conference title in 2015, while the men's squad remains in search of its first league championship.

The United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championships will be run in Virginia Beach, Va., for the third consecutive year on Friday, November 9.
