Brandywine Places Four In Top 10 At Mont Alto Invitational

MONT ALTO, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's cross country teams both placed two runners in the top 10 during Saturday's Penn State Mont Alto Invitational, a preview meet for the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships in October.

Rachel McIntire (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) and Catharine Mooney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) were two of the top-five runners during the 6K women's race. McIntire was fourth, finishing with a time of 31:05, while Mooney was just behind her in the fifth position.

Brian Abel (Amesbury, Mass./Amesbury) continued his impressive start to his career, claiming second in the 28-runner men's field. He turned in a time of 29:39 on the 8K course, the fourth-fastest time in program history, and now owns two of the top four times ever at Brandywine, including the school record set two weeks ago.

John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) was the fourth Lion posting a top-10 showing as he finished eighth, running to a time of 31:41.

Ryan Cassidy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) was the 12th man to cross the finish line in a time of 34:52, while Brendan Cleary (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) claimed 14th in 35:15.

Brandywine travels to Maryland next weekend for the Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University.
