Johnson, Bazaar Lead Brandywine At Scranton Invitational

DUNMORE, Pa. -- Ben Johnson (Ardmore, Pa./Harriton) and John Bazaar (Cheshire, Conn./Hamden Hall Country Day) finished in first and second place, respectively, to lead the Penn State Brandywine cross country teams at the Penn State Scranton Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Johnson took medalist honors in the 16-man field after clocking in at 21:44. Bazaar was two seconds behind him, completing the 5K race in 21:46.

The Brandywine men compiled 39 points to finish in second place as team. The hosts claimed the team title with 27 points.

Alex Consadene (Andover, Conn./RHAM) was the seventh runner to cross the finish line, running to a time of 23:38. Isaac Canenguez (Worcester, Mass./University Park Campus School) turned in a time of 30:52, while Mohammed Iyoun (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) posted a time of 31:31.

On the women's side, Angel Asomugha (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) recorded a time of 33:54. Her time was seventh-best during the 5K race.
