Lions Deal Schuylkill First Defeat In Battle Of Unbeatens

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. -- Both teams entered the match unbeaten, but only Penn State Brandywine remains without a loss as the Lions bested Penn State Schuylkill 4-0 on Thursday afternoon in PSUAC women's soccer action.

Brandywine, now 6-0-1 this season, is undefeated during its last 18 matches (17-0-1) dating back to last season. The 18-match unbeaten streak is tied for the fifth-longest active streak among all levels of collegiate women's soccer. NCAA Division II Western Washington owns the longest active streak at 26 consecutive matches.

Christina Kane (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) gave Brandywine a 1-0 lead entering halftime, scoring her sixth goal of the year off a feed from Emily Jefferson (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII Regional).

Brandywine added to its lead with three second-half goals, all of which were assisted by Noelle Conforti (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck). Jefferson, Rachel Weir (Neptune City, N.J./Red Bank Regional) and Amanda Roy (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) all netted goals during the final 45 minutes to help Brandywine gain sole possession of first place in the PSUAC.

Brandywine, which owns a 3-0 conference mark, returns home to host Penn State Hazleton at 4:00 pm on Wednesday. The Lions earned a 7-2 road triumph at Hazleton earlier this season.
