Brandywine Closes Season With 2-2 Draw In Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Penn State Brandywine and Johnson & Wales played to a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon in the season finale for both teams at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Tournament.

Brandywine took the lead on two occasions, but the Wildcats had an answer each time. Both teams also had opportunities to go in front during the final minutes, but could not muster the go-ahead score.

Brandywine netted both of its goals following corner kicks off the foot of Noelle Conforti (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck). The Lions' first tally came at the 13:19 mark of the first half as all-American Samantha Bearden (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) recorded her second goal in as many days at the tournament.

Danielle Doyle scored her first of two goals 14 minutes later to send the teams into halftime tied 1-1.

Brandywine pushed back in front after Christina Kane (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) tapped in Conforti's corner just 1:39 into the final half; however, Doyle countered with the tying goal under seven minutes later to retie the score.

Brandywine attempted seven more corner kicks and recorded three shots on goal over the final 30 minutes, but each shot was turned away by J&W keeper Kylie Priddy. Brandywine goalkeeper Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) kept the game square by stopping two shots in the same span.

Overall, both teams registered 14 shots, while Brandywine attempted 13 of the match's 14 corner kicks. Bush made four saves for Brandywine in 90 minutes of action.

Brandywine completed its third season of varsity soccer with a record of 10-2-2 after winning its second-straight Penn State University Athletic Conference championship.
