Brandywine Sweeps PSUAC Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- After debuting with a victory at Valley Forge, freshmen Kiiani Banks (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) and Jolyn Walleekendeh (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) earned the first player of the week awards of the season from the Penn State University Athletic Conference on Monday. Banks was named defender of the week, while Walleekendeh was selected as the league's offensive player of the week.

Banks stopped the lone shot she faced in Brandywine's 9-0 triumph for her first victory and shutout during the first collegiate action of her career. She played all 90 minutes in net for the Lions.

Walleekendeh scored four goals as she also made her collegiate debut Saturday. She netted the first two scores of the game during the first half and added two more goals 1:02 apart early in the second period. Walleekendeh, whose older brother Bill was a men's soccer all-American at Brandywine from 2013-16, produced six of Brandywine's 31 shots on goal.

Brandywine (1-0) has a week off before returning to action Saturday at Penn State Scranton (12:00 pm).
