Wilson Clips Brandywine With Second-Half Score

MEDIA, Pa. – Wilson College claimed a 1-0 victory over Penn State Brandywine in United East Conference women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.

The teams played more than 70 minutes deadlocked at 0-0 before the Phoenix netted the match's lone goal at the 70:39 mark. Halley Shaffer's shot found the inside of the left goal post off a feed from Atiya Jackson as the Phoenix took the lead.

Jasmin Alvarez (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) kept the Lions in the game by stopping nine shots. She blocked all four she faced during the first half and needed to make five more stops during the second period.

The Lions recorded three shots with the top scoring chance coming off the foot of Emma Kearns (Springfield, Pa./Springfield), but her shot whistled high and wide early in the first half. Hope Priemon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Maddie Pflug (Alexandria, Va./Mount Vernon) also tallied shots for Brandywine.

Brandywine (6-4-1, 2-3 UEC) will play at home for the final time this fall on Saturday when the Lions host Penn College for Senior Day at 3:00 PM.
