Kearns And Stanton Honored With All-United East Accolades

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore Addy Stanton (Henderson, Nev./Coronado) and freshman Emma Kearns (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) were both named to the All-United East Conference Women's Soccer Third Team the league announced on Thursday.
 
Stanton started nine of Brandywine's first 10 matches in the midfield before missing the final six matches due to injury. Despite the injury, Stanton finished tied for seventh in the United East with 10 goals and added four assists for 24 total points.
 
Stanton recorded a pair of hat tricks, scoring three times in a victory at Valley Forge on Sept. 9, while also tallying three goals and two assists in a home triumph over Trinity Washington 15 days later. In addition, Stanton produced a two-goal, two assist effort in a win at Keystone on Oct. 7 and netted both goals during Brandywine's first-ever United East victory, a 2-1 triumph over Cedar Crest on Sept. 27.
 
Kearns led the Lions in goals, assists and total points, while starting all 15 of the team's matches during her rookie season. The sixth-leading goal scorer and four-leading overall scorer in the United East, Kearns produced 11 goals and 30 total points. Kearns was one of seven United East women's soccer players with at least four-game winning goals. She also tied for fourth in the league with eight assists.
 
Against Keystone, Kearns finished one goal shy of a team-record, scoring five times, while adding an assist in the Lions' victory. She also registered a three-goal, three-assist performance against Trinity Washington. Overall, Brandywine went 6-1 when Kearns tallied at least one point. 
 
Lancaster Bible's Janae Bergey was named United East Player of the Year, while Ella Garman of Penn College claimed Rookie of the Year honors and Penn State Harrisburg's Brandon West was tabbed as the Coach of the Year.
