LANGHORNE, Pa. -- Competing for the first time in 12 days, the Penn State Brandywine women's tennis team was defeated by Cairn University 7-2 on Tuesday afternoon.

The duo of Katie Corey (Lansdowne, Pa./Agora Cyber Charter) and Alexis Ellison (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) posted an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles, but the Lions were defeated in the two additional doubles matchups.

Brandywine also dropped five-of-six singles contests as Melody Zheng (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) claimed a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0, for the Lions' lone triumph.

Brandywine (1-2) is back on the road next Tuesday at Immaculata (3:30 pm).
