Brandywine Earns 3-0 Senior Night Victory

MEDIA, Pa. -- During Senior Night, the Penn State Brandywine volleyball team dealt Penn State Schuylkill a defeat in straight sets by scores of 25-9, 25-5, 25-2 on Thursday.

Honored during the match, senior Nikki Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara), the team's lone senior, recorded team bests with 14 kills and 10 digs.

Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn) dealt out 22 assists and recorded 14 service aces, while Margot Gargus (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) produced nine kills, nine aces and five digs. Lauren Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) collected five kills and Randi Gassaway (Detroit, Mich./East English Village Prep) totaled seven digs.

Brandywine led from start to finish, opening up an 11-3 first-set advantage behind a trio of aces from Stark and kills from Poissant, Gargus and Kelly. Schuylkill scored three-straight points to pull within 17-9, but Brandywine collected the final eight points, with five coming on Gargus kills, to take a 1-0 lead.

Gargus served up four-straight aces and Poissant added a kill to push the edge to 16-2 during set No. 2 and Brandywine never looked back, taking a two-sets-to-none lead by a score of 25-5.

The Lions netted the first 17 points of the final stanza and used a kill from Poissant to claim the final tally of the match, winning the third set by a 25-2 count.

Brandywine (21-2, 14-0 PSUAC) can claim the outright regular season title in the PSUAC with a victory on Sunday at second-place Penn State DuBois (12:00 PM).
