Brandywine Falls Short At Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- Backed by 63 percent shooting during the first half, Penn State Wilkes-Barre built a 51-26 halftime lead and never looked back, claiming a 105-67 Penn State University Athletic Conference men's basketball victory over Penn State Brandywine on Wednesday night.

Wilkes-Barre made 20-of-32 shots from the field, including 6-of-10 three-point tries, while limiting Brandywine to 21 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes.

The hosts built a 30-14 lead through 12 minutes and used a 17-0 surge to push the margin to 49-19 four minutes later. Brandywine scored seven of the final nine points in the half to get within 51-26 at the break.

The Lions brought the deficit to 21 points following Bryce Barrouk's (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) layup with 12 minutes to play, but would get no closer the rest of the way.

Wilkes-Barre shot 62 percent from the field and scored 50 of its points in the paint, while holding a 35-23 edge on the boards.

Bobby Heath (Reading, Pa./Reading) topped Brandywine with 12 points, while Barrouk added 11 points and Isiah Cook (Reading, Pa./Reading) tallied seven points and six rebounds. Eleven different players netted at least one basket for the Lions, who shot 33 percent from the field and buried nine three-pointers.
