York Stops Brandywine’s Winning Streak

YORK, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team saw its 11-game conference win streak and seven-game overall win streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Lions were defeated 71-57 by Penn State York.

Brandywine cut an early 11-point deficit as low as seven points when Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) converted a three-point play at the 4:24 mark, but York answered with 10-straight points and 12 of the final 14 to end the half to build a 35-18 edge at the break.

The hosts extended the margin to 20 points early in the second period and did not allow Brandywine to trim the deficit lower than 17 points until the final minutes of regulation.

Barrouk paired 17 points with 11 rebounds, while A.J. Dreger (Newtown Square, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) notched 11 points. Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) and Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) both chipped in eight points.

Brandywine was limited to 31 percent shooting, while York shot 38 percent from the field and sank 19-of-23 free throws.

Brandywine (13-8, 12-3 PSUAC) will look to bounce back Tuesday night at home against Penn State Schuylkill at 8:00 PM.
