Five Brandywine Student-Athletes Named To USCAA Winter National Academic Team

MEDIA, Pa. -- Five Penn State Brandywine men's and women's basketball student-athletes were recently named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Academic Team.

From the women's basketball squad, Savannah Bauer (San Jose, Calif./Santa Teresa), Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro), Cheyenne Rivas (Thorndale, Pa./Collegium Charter) and Jenaya Smith (Cohoes, N.Y./Cohoes) all earned the honor, while Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) was the Lions' men's basketball honoree.

The USCAA All-Academic Team is awarded to student-athletes who have accumulated a minimum GPA of 3.50 entering the spring semester and reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution.

Bauer, who also competes for the Brandywine volleyball team, made 12 appearances this winter. She totaled 17 points, 27 rebounds and 10 assists. Bauer is a biomedical engineering major who owns a 3.88 GPA.

Floyd, a human development and family studies major who carries a 3.79 GPA, received her fourth USCAA National Academic Team award. She also earned USCAA Second Team All-American laurels after posting a team-high 18.1 points per game in 26 starts.

Rivas claimed her second consecutive USCAA National Academic Team selection. She is a communications major and has earned a 3.60 GPA during her time at Brandywine. On the court, Rivas averaged 6.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per outing.

Smith made 18 appearances for the Lions this season, tallying 30 points, 39 rebounds and 11 assists. A communications major, Smith has amassed a 3.65 GPA.

Barrouk, who earned his third national academic award, became the third Brandywine student-athlete to be named USCAA National Player of the Year after averaging 18.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. He finished his 106-game career as the program's second-leading scorer all-time with 1,749 points. Barrouk is majoring in business and owns a 3.67 GPA.
