MEDIA, Pa. -- Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) scored the 1,000th point of his career as the Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team outlasted Penn State Schuylkill for a 65-57 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Needing 12 points to reach 1,000 entering the day, Hockenbrock's putback tip-in with 6:03 to go in regulation made him the eighth player in the 56-year history of the Brandywine men's basketball program to reach the 1,000-point mark. Hockenbrock finished the game with 15 points, a team-high 11 rebounds, four assists, four steals and four blocked shots.

Brandywine erased an early 7-0 deficit and owned a double-figure lead at the half by outscoring Schuylkill 35-17 during the period's final 14:46.

Hockenbrock, Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) and Jamar Wright (Wilmington, Del./Conrad School of Science) combined for all 10 points during a 10-2 run that put Brandywine on top 10-9, but Schuylkill answered with nine of the next 11 points to lead by five.

Casey Caruso (Harrisburg, Pa./Lower Dauphin) trimmed the margin to one by scoring six points in 1:30 span and began a run of 17-2 for the Lions. Jaden Kelly (Philadelphia, Pa./GAMP) capped the run with a triple, pushing the lead to 30-20. Wright added a three-pointer just before the halftime buzzer, sending Brandywine into intermission holding a 35-24 edge.

Brandywine's offense went cold early in the second half as the Lions were held without a field goal for the first 9:18. Schuylkill rallied to tie the score at 37-all, but Wright got the Lions' offense going with a triple and Caruso followed with another three-pointer to put Brandywine back on top by six.

Hockenbrock's 1,000th point pushed the margin to eight with 6:03 to play and exactly three minutes later, he made the lead nine points by sinking a pair of free throws.

The visitors cut the deficit as low as five points with 1:58 to go; however, Caruso buried a triple during Brandyiwne's ensuing possession and Brandywine sank four free throws during the final minute to claim the victory.

Caruso canned four three-pointers and finished with a team-high 17 points in 12 minutes of action, while Dunson added 15 points and four assists. Kelly notched six points, six rebounds and four assists and Wright chipped in eight points and six boards.

Brandywine overcame 24 turnovers by limiting Schuylkill to 29 percent shooting, including a 2-for-20 mark from three-point range.

Brandywine (5-10, 5-5 PSUAC) is back at home Wednesday to face Penn State York at 8:00 PM.
