Newman Claims PSUAC Pitcher Of The Week Award

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore right-hander Frank Newman (Ridley, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was selected as the conference pitcher of the week by the Penn State University Athletic Conference on Tuesday.

Newman fired a complete game shutout, the first of his career, during his only appearance of the week. He limited Central Penn to just two hits, both singles, while striking out two during Brandywine's doubleheader sweep.

In five innings of work, Newman retired the side in order in the first, fourth and fifth innings and faced just one batter above the minimum overall.

The victory was Newman's first of his collegiate career. He owns five strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings of work during three appearances this spring.

Brandywine (4-10) visits Swarthmore on Thursday afternoon for a 3:30 pm game.
