Four Lions Earn USCAA All-Academic Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia -- Four Penn State Brandywine women's basketball student-athletes were named to the United Small College Athletic Association National Academic Team recently.

Senior Ebony Ford (Philadelphia, Pa./Girard Academy) earned the distinction for the third-straight year, while juniors Jessy Gledhill (Secane, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) and Lauren Munro (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) were named to the all-academic team for the second consecutive season and sophomore Stacey MacArthur (Newtown Square, Pa./Delco Christian) was a first-time honoree.

The USCAA Winter All-Academic Team is awarded to basketball student-athletes who have amassed a minimum GPA of 3.50 and reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution. Brandywine's four selections led all PSUAC schools and tied for second among all institutions nationally.

Ford, who owns a 3.88 grade-point average, is a Schreyer Honors Scholar as a psychology major. She has also earned PSUAC All-Academic Team laurels three consecutive years. For completed her 91-game playing career with 100 points and 87 rebounds.

A human development and family studies major, Gledhill has compiled a 3.68 GPA during her three years at Brandywine and is a two-time PSUAC All-Academic Team selection. She was the Lions' fifth-leading scorer, averaging 7.4 points per game this winter.

Also a two-time, all-academic honoree by the PSUAC, Munro has garnered a 3.65 GPA as a human development and family studies major. She led Brandywine in rebounding (6.5 rpg), while finishing third in scoring (10.1 ppg) and will enter her senior season needing 40 points to become the seventh Lion in program history to reach 1,000-career points.

MacArthur was named second team all-conference after pacing Brandywine in scoring at 12.8 points per game. She was one of the top shooting threats in the USCAA, ranking eighth nationally with 51 three-pointers. In the classroom, MacArthur is an engineering major who owns a 3.81 GPA.

Brandywine claimed the conference's regular-season title and finished with an 18-8 overall record this winter.
