Poissant Named National Player Of The Week; Stark Earns Second PSUAC Setter Award

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine junior Nikki Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) earned the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's National Volleyball Player of the Week award, while sophomore Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn) claimed her second Penn State University Athletic Conference Setter of the Week award in a row.

The duo helped Brandywine to a 4-0 week against PSUAC competition, winning all four matches in straight sets. After its victory Tuesday night over Penn State Mont Alto, Brandywine has now won 23-straight PSUAC matches, with 21 of those triumphs coming in straight sets.

Poissant collected 38 kills, 31 digs and 16 aces last week. Ten of her aces came in a 3-0 win over Penn State Hazleton on Saturday. She also posted 14 kills against Penn State Scranton and 11 kills against Penn State Lehigh Valley, giving her eight double-figure kill performances in 12 matches this fall.

The PSUAC leader in kills and aces, Poissant has totaled 140 kills, 39 aces and 145 digs, all team bests.

Stark added to her PSUAC-leading assist total with 119 helpers last week, while adding 17 aces, 13 digs and three blocks, giving her a second setter of the week award in as many weeks. She averaged nearly 10 assists per set and, after a career-best, 52-dig performance against Mont Alto on Tuesday, now owns 391 assists, 160 more than her next closest competitor in the PSUAC.

Brandywine (10-2, 5-0 PSUAC) travels to New Jersey on Saturday for a nonconference tri-match against Rutgers-Camden (11:00 am) and Wilkes University (1:00 pm).
