SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine began Penn State University Athletic Conference volleyball play by defeating Penn State Schuylkill in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-14, 27-25 on Tuesday night.
The Lions were led offensively by Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro), who produced 12 kills and five aces, both team highs. Anna Ramirez (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) tallied eight kills, while Lexie Berry (Brookhaven, Pa./Daegu (South Korea)) chipped in four kills.
Laura Jezyk (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth), named USCAA Setter of the Week earlier Tuesday, handed out 22 assists and added three kills.
On the defensive end, Suzie Alvarenga (Fullerton, Calif./Notre Dame Academy), this week's PSUAC Player of the Week, notched a team-best 15 digs, along with five assists, while Ramirez posted 13 digs. Floyd registered a team-best three blocks.
Brandywine (2-4, 1-0 PSUAC) is on the road again Saturday when it visits Penn State York at 2:00 PM.
