Michaels Lands On USCAA All-America Second Team

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine senior Tyler Michaels (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) earned second team all-American honors from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association recently.

Michaels, also a first team all-conference performer in the PSUAC, tied for fifth nationally with seven victories in 12 starts on the mound this spring. Three of his victories were complete-game shutouts, the highest total in the nation.

Michaels also ranked among the USCAA leaders after logging 64.2 innings (7th) and striking out a career-best 60 batters (9th). He was especially dominant against conference opponents, posting a 5-0 record in six starts during the regular season.

From March 15 - April 11, Michaels made six appearances and allowed just one earned run, while striking out 37 hitters. He was named pitcher of the week twice during that stretch and earned the award three times overall this spring.

Michaels concluded his four-year career at Brandywine with 14 victories and 130 strikeouts during 40 appearances.
