Brandywine Places Four In Top 25 At Cairn Invitational

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine cross country teams placed four runners, three men and one woman, in the top 25 at the Cairn Highlander Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) paced a quartet of Lion men competing by placing 11th at the 8K race with a time of 29:46, breaking his own school record by 14 seconds. Li now owns four of the top five 8K times in Brandywine history.

Alex Troncelliti (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) took 17th in the 56-runner field (32:38), while Raheem Naughty's (Philadelphia, Pa./Boys Latin) time of 35:22 was the 24th-fastest mark. Henry Lee (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) ran to 45th place, crossing the line in 40:34.

For the second time in as many weeks, Anya Tyler (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) broke a Brandywine school record, this time the 6K mark. She bested Robyn Gannon's time by nearly two minutes, placing ninth in the 89-runner race with a time of 25:55.

Sarah Mariotti (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) finished the race in 37:30, while Brooke Theveny (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) crossed the line in 40:20 to round out the Brandywine women.

Brandywine will travel to Abington next Saturday for the Penn State Abington Invitational beginning at 8:00 am.
